The material investigation that led to synthesizing a fire brick asked certain questions relating to the site. What are the questions being posed by your material/site?
How does this allow for structure and space to emerge/boundary?
How does it act as a threshold or an enclosure?
What are the limitations of your explorations?
What are the experiential qualities of your material and where can it be applied?
What kind of form does your material suggest?
Module---How does that affect the form that your generating from part to whole?
What are its affects of light?
How may it begin to engage a corner condition?
How can it be used as a unit of construction?

Before theorizing about the site take the brick and see where can it be applied. In the above image certain programs that the fire station needs are categorized as conceal, reveal, or both. Programs that must be concealed are more private and the translucent brick would not be appropriate for that specific program. The hallways and public areas are programs that can be revealed and therefore the systemized brick wall can be applied. .

The material investigation that led me to my systemized bricks determined the form of my building. It begged me to ask myself what kind of form does this material suggest? How does this affect the form your generating from part to whole? The systemized brick are an agent and allowed for the process to flow.
